(Senior Producer) Since 2005, an estimated 30 patients worldwide have undergone experimental face transplant surgeries - extensive procedures that replace one's skin, muscle, nerve and bone with that of a donor. Carmen Tarleton, who suffered deep chemical burns over much of her body following a devastating attack, is one of them.
Produced in conjunction with Katie Drummond and the Verge Features editorial team, Beyond Recognition appeared alongside a 3,000 word article published on The Verge. The film went on to be an official selection of the 2014 AFI Docs Festival, winning the Audience Award for Best Short Documentary.
